Johnnie E. Bradford Jr., Ph.D.

Johnnie Bradford was born in East Chicago, Indiana. He is the second oldest of eight children born to Johnnie and Martha Bradford.

Beginning his academic pursuits in 1983, he received his first degree from Illinois Central Junior College in Arts and Science. He furthered his education and accomplishments at Oral Roberts University where he received a B.A. Degree and two Masters Degrees. His B.A. degree was in Old Testament. His first accomplished M.A. degree was in Hebrew Studies where he earned high honors. The second M.A. degree was in Semitic Languages. Upon completion of his second M.A. degree, Mr. Bradford received an award from Oral Roberts University for being the Most Outstanding M.A. degree student.

Mr. Bradford studied for four years under the professorship of Dr. Brad Young, a graduate of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, who studied under Dr. David Flusser. Dr. Young is considered by many in the circle of biblical scholarship to be one of the foremost authorities in Jewish and New Testament studies. He also is hailed as a well-noted author.

Mr. Bradford wrote his Master’s Thesis on the Kingdom of Heaven and is currently writing his dissertation at the University of Texas at Austin where he is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Middle Eastern Studies. His dissertation topic is Halakic Controversies Between Beth Hillel, Beth Shammai and Jesus.

Mr. Bradford has published for the Yavo Digest and has been affiliated with Yavo, Inc., for more than twenty years. He currently is an active participant in the new Bible Scholars, Inc., an organization consisting of Bible scholars committed to assisting the student of the Bible in their quest for truth.

He is the president and founder of Green Tree Ministries which is an educational ministry designed to teach all disciplines of biblical study. Mr. Bradford has done extensive research in Jewish Law and Rabbinic Literature. As a Bible scholar, Mr. Bradford has focused much attention on the Jewish background of the New Testament where a large body of source materials that flourished during the second Jewish Commonwealth has been and continues to be instrumental in providing the necessary background, insight and understanding into the life and teachings of Jesus, as well as the Apostle Paul.

As a teacher and educator of the Bible, Mr. Bradford envisions training and training pastors throughout the world in all disciplines of biblical study in order that they may be better equipped to fulfill the task of correctly interpreting the Word of Truth. He, of course, plans to spend a great deal of his career teaching students in an academic environment and working closely with ongoing efforts in improving Jewish-Christian relations.
