Rabbi Rachel Denburg-Levine, Ph.D., is the first woman in her illustrious rabbinical family to receive ordination. On her father's side, she is related to noted Chabad Chassidic rabbis, and her mother was the scion of a Lithuanian rabbinic dynasty. Rabbi Denburg-Levine was personally ordained in 1992 by Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi, spiritual leader of the international Jewish Renewal movement.
A noted teacher and speaker, she has presented at numerous conferences and seminars in synagogues and churches both in the United States and abroad. A prolific writer, in addition to her work posted on this web site, she has had numerous articles published both in print and virtual media. Rabbi Denburg-Levine's main focus has been in interpreting Judaism to non-Jews and at the same time, bringing a greater awareness of their faith to her co-religionists. A gifted teacher of Kabbalah, she has specialized in making mysticism accessible to the average person.
Her pastoral work has been mainly in the field of chaplaincy, having served in hospitals, nursing homes, hospice, and prisons. She also does intensive spiritual counselling and therapy, both for lay people and other clergy.
Rabbi Denburg-Levine has a BA from the University of Miami, M.Ed. from Florida Atlantic University, Ph.D. in theology from Trinity University, and has done post-graduate work at the Union Institute. She also has received certification in other areas related to rabbinical practice.
