Question:
Dear Roy: A few are now teaching that the Bible does not teach that there will be a rapture. I personally never bought this doctrine; however, in the Greek, or Hebrew, what does Paul mean when he says, "...we will all be changed..." etc., etc.?
G.T., Georgia
Answer:
Dear G.T.: Those who declare the Bible does not teach there will be a rapture probably are referring to the fact that the word rapture is never mentioned in the biblical text. Rather, there is the reference by Paul in I Thessalonians 4:17 of a "catching up together to meet the Lord in the air."This passage within I Thessalonians 4:14-18 is reminiscent of Paul's words in I Corinthians 15:52 of being "...changed in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, and raised incorruptible." The real problem is not if we are going to be caught up, if we are going to be changed--but when. How is it all going to happen? That is the point at which we move from fact into speculation, prognostication, and error.
