Question:
Dr. Blizzard. Please explain Jeremiah 30:9. The preceding verses (v. 1-8) leads me to believe that this occurs during the tribulation period(v. 7). Does verse 9 literally mean that God will raise up David (actually and physically) to be a king over Israel during this period.
Answer:
Prophecy often has a two-fold or even three or four-fold interpretation. Personally I believe that this prophecy refers primarily to Judah's (David) return from captivity in Babylon, which occured in 536 B.C.E. However, there is another additional possibility that it also refers to events that will occur at the end of the age. In any event the term David is figurative.
