Prophecy often has a two-fold or even three or four-fold interpretation. Personally I believe that this prophecy refers primarily to Judah's (David) return from captivity in Babylon, which occured in 536 B.C.E. However, there is another additional possibility that it also refers to events that will occur at the end of the age. In any event the term David is figurative. |
