A home study course is certainly a start. There are several available on the internet. However, to be honest they all fall short of actually being in the class room with a compentent teacher. The course may be offered through an accredited school or it may not. What is of importance is that you are studying Modern Hebrew as opposed to Biblical Hebrew. You want to learn to read, write, and speak. Once you know Modern Hebrew you can work with all levels of Hebrew as there has been less change in Hebrew in 4000 years than in English in the last 400. What would be a good idea would be to spend about 6 weeks in Israel in a concentrated language program.....but.....start where you are, use what you have and do the best you can. |
