Question:
Dr. Blizzard,
In Daniel 13: 17-18, are the Hebrews about to be thrown into the furnace saying, "even if you do not throw us into the furnace we will still not worship your gods"? The English translations of this verse have made me uncomfortable for some reason...I wonder if there is more to what I'm reading.

I was blessed with the program on GLC with you and Dr. McDonald. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Robert L. Davis - Lamesa, Tx
Answer:
Dear Robert,
As you know, portions of Daniel are in Aramaic. Daniel 3:17-18 is in Aramaic and the passage reads in Aramaic as follows.
Therefore, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the fiery furnace and take us from your hand, O king. But if not, be it known unto you O king that we will not serve your gods nor the golden image which you have raised up."
I see nothing all that strange or unusual beyond what I related.
