Question:
I have been studying the name or our Messiah in Hebrew from the Strong's Concordance and I when looking at 3091 of the Hebrew when pronouning the letters yode hay waw sheen ah-yin that the letter on the end ah-yin is dropped and or silent so the the name would most likly be pronounced as Yahsha as it is put together using 3068 and 3467. I have been told that the vowel pointings were placed with the letters by the scribes that came out of the mystery schools of babylon and therefore the correct name as close as we know would be said as Yahsha. Is my understanding of this close. Thank you for input and consideration on this matter. I only want to learn and have a deeper relationship with our Heavenly Father and His Messiah and it seems to me that knowing and using His name would be a good start. I am not interested in trying to disprove the name Jesus but I do know that He did not go by this name as it is Greek in orgin and not His Jewish name.
David
Answer:
Dear David,
This is all very simple. It is not complicated. In Hebrew, Jesus' name is Yeshua. It comes from the Hebrew root ysha. It is not yasha or any of the other names that those espousing the sacred Biblical name are advocating. It is simply Yeshua and that is it. And God's name was YHWH. Anything that you have heard that differs from that is in error.
