Question:
In Exodus 32: 19-20 Moses took the golden calf the people had worshipped, melted it and ground the gold into a powder. He then put the powder in the water and made the Israelites drink it. Why did Moses do this and what was the significance of it? Joe
Answer:
In Exodus 2, Moses ground the gold into flour. Flour-fine gold mingled with water is called colloidal gold and it turns the water blood red. The Bible says that without the shedding of blood, there can be no forgiveness of sins. This was a type, if you will, of the Lord's Supper. Remember, those who drank were forgiven and those who refused to drink were cut off. I wonder if it is more than just a coincidence that 3000 were cut off on that day and on the day of Pentecost, 3000 were "saved." Roy
