Question:
I am relatively new to the understanding of the Hebrew roots of our faith. I have a question would you help me to understand john 20:23, and the correspondence of "confess your sins one to another" I am not Catholic but they use these verses as their reason for confession, and absolution. Thank you, Lance
Answer:
Dear Lance,
Actually this passage does give justification for our confession of sins to one another but not for confessing sins to a confessional individual or to some spiritual authority who claims an authoritative position beyond that possessed by the ordinary believer.
